Non-verbal communication is an important part of communication. On the telephone you cannot use it, so you need to put extra effort to get understood.

Passive

Finnish passive is used when the grammatical subject is unknown.

Joku meluaa ympärillä -> Ympärillä melutaan.
Someone is making noise -> Noise is made (by someone)
Joku näyttää elokuvan -> Elokuva näytetään.
Someone shows the film -> The film is being shown (by someone)

In these examples, it's not important who is making noise or who is showing the film.

Often, in spoken language passive is used when talking about us(1. person plural):

Me tapaamme-> tavataan
We meet
Me näemme-> Nähdään!
We see (phrase: see you!)
